Alfred Russell Wallace, born January 8th 1823, was a British naturalist, explorer, geographer, anthropologist, and biologist. He was developing the same theory of evolution as Charles Darwin. Both biologists worked away at their research, sailing around the world trying to find answers to their problems. For Wallace and Darwin, it was a race to see who could present their theory to the world first. Unfortunately for Wallace, on the return home his ship sank and he lost all of his evidence and research that he had worked so hard for. When both Darwin and Wallace made it home they decided to present their theory together. But in the end, Darwin got all the credit because he was the biologist with all of the scientific evidence to back up the theory of evolution.
